What is water jet cutting?

Water jet cutting is the process of using water, pumped at extremely high pressure - 12,700mm/min -  to cut into any material. Typically with metals, an abrasive like sand is used in conjunction with water to help cut through.

It is extremely accurate, with a high rating for accuracy even in small detail. There are some limits though, such as the thickness of the metal and the total width of the sheet. At Kepno we can cut on a sheet up to 3m x 1.5m, and the thickness of the sheet generally cant be thicker than 200mm, but 150mm maximum is ideal.

The machine will leave behind a smooth edge, with minimal cosmetic effects on the material. Kepno Shares its water jet cutting machine with fellow companies like Heatlie BBQs and Adelaide Letterboxes, who use it to cut BBQ grill plates and custom letterbox faceplates.
